Message from the CEO
At State Schools’ Relief we’ve been assisting vulnerable Victorian children since 1930. Recently, the demand for our services has been increasing dramatically. From a high of just over 45,000 students supported in the 2016/2017 year, this past year saw us assist more than 56,000 students in government schools with school uniforms, shoes and educational resources.
In the last financial year 79% of primary schools, 96% of secondary schools & 91% of P-12 schools have utilised our services.
Every day, we hear from schools who have children attending, without the basic necessities required to participate fully in their education.
The evidence from schools reinforces the positive outcomes achieved.
- Improved school attendance
- Improved self-image and well being
- Increased student engagement
We are grateful to the many Victorian schools, corporations and individuals that support us each and every year. It is your generosity and belief in our mission that enables State Schools’ Relief to continue our work.
I wish you could see the difference your hard work and SSR has made to the students at our school. Because of the work you do the many students I have, that come from homes with very little, now look the same as everyone and are so proud of themselves when they come to school in their new uniforms. For some they are the best clothes they will own for their whole school life. Thanks again for all your hard work.
