What is supplied?

All requests are treated sympathetically and in confidence. Assistance is in the form of clothing or footwear sent from our own supply and delivered to your school free of charge or by authorisation to purchase from your school shop, or supplier, on a co-payment basis.

What is the process?

State Schools' Relief only responds to requests from principals, assistant principals and welfare coordinators. Teachers and Principals can receive further information and clarification by contacting our office on 03 8769 8400.

Parents or Carers who are struggling to provide their child's uniform need to make an appointment with the school principal or assistant principal/welfare coordinator to discuss their situation.

Who is eligible?

Any student who is attending a Victorian Government School is eligible for State Schools' Relief support. Schools can send an application to State Schools' Relief when they believe that there is need to support a student whose family is facing difficulty in providing the appropriate uniform and footwear for school.

Situations include, but are not limited to:

  • Health issues resulting in serious financial difficulties
  • House fires where school clothing is lost
  • Independent living / homelessness
  • Natural disasters
  • Serious financial difficulty

The application will be processed within a week (longer in peak times) and you will receive notification by email. Please note: A brief description must be entered into the comments box as to the situation. You cannot write what the category is or type N/A, * or Principal advised. This is very important so that applications can be processed as quickly as possible. Any application that does not submit with a comment will be put in Stock Pending and a comment will say *Need School Comment.

Why donate to State Schools' Relief?

State Schools' Relief has many generous supporters who kindly make tax deductible donations through their payroll each fortnight. One of our donors told us why:

"Every time I see the look of relief on a parents face when we suggest sourcing uniforms from State Schools' Relief and then the look of joy on the children's faces when the parcel arrives, I know that supporting this cause directly improves children's lives. It is done quietly, with no fuss and allows the children to feel part of the school without standing out due to their family background" - staff member, Dandenong Primary School

What is the process?

Payroll giving can be completed in one of two ways:

1. Logon to educate and click the Payroll Donation Button.

2. Fill out the authorisation form and return to your Business Manager for processing. Business Managers instructions for completing the payroll donation can be found by clicking "Payroll Giving" under Resources on this page.
